The team waived Pro Bowl OLB Peter Boulware, a move not totally unexpected. Boulware was expected to make around $6 million in 2005, but didn't play last season because of knee and toe injuries. The Ravens didn't believe he could recover 100 percent. They tried to restructure his contract and apparently wanted to make him a situational player, but Boulware wanted to play full time for another team.
The move puts additional pressure on Adalius Thomas and rookie Dan Cody. Thomas was expected to play on running situations, but he'll now become full time. The game plan for Cody was to bring him along slowly, but the pace has to quicken now because the Ravens need a pass rusher to complement Terrell Suggs on the other side. Look for Cody to become the third down pass rushing specialist by the middle of the season.
